Pickled onions for any occasion: an easy recipe for a tasty kebab appetizer
Onions are a vegetable used in everything from appetizers to main courses and desserts. Most often, onions are pickled to get rid of their characteristic odor and flavor.
Pickled onions can be used to make salads, or as an independent appetizer, which is great for barbecue. A food blogger with the nickname katia cooking shared how to pickle onions for any occasion on Instagram.
Ingredients for 2 ½ liter jars
- red onion - 700 g
- water - 250 ml
- apple cider vinegar - 250 ml
- salt - 1 tbsp
- sugar - 2 tbsp
- bay leaf - 2 pcs
- peppercorns - 4 pcs
Method of preparation
1. Cut the onions into rings and put them in a jar.
2. Combine water, vinegar, salt, and sugar in a saucepan.
3. Turn on the heat, bring to a boil, stirring, and immediately remove from heat.
4. Pour the marinade into the onions and close with the lid.
5. The pickled onions will be ready right after they cool completely.
