Never squeeze a tea bag into a cup: here's what can happen
Squeezing a tea bag is a common thing for many people. It's often done automatically: to get more tea or to avoid dripping on the table. But this simple action can significantly affect the taste of the drink, and not for the better.
The FoodOboz editorial team will tell you why you shouldn't squeeze the tea bag. When making a drink, you should do something completely different.
How does squeezing the bag affect the taste of tea
The tea bag contains not only flavorful tea, but also tannins, which add bitterness to the drink. When you squeeze the bag, these tannins are released into the cup in excessive amounts, changing the taste of the tea to a more astringent and less pleasant one. As a result, the drink loses its softness and harmony.
Do I need to remove the sachet immediately after brewing?
Yes, it's best not to leave the sachet in the cup for too long. The optimal time for brewing is up to 3 minutes. This allows the flavors of the tea to unfold, but does not make the drink too strong. For green tea, the water temperature should be around 80 °C, and for black tea, no more than 90 °C.
If you think that the tea is not rich enough, it is better to just hold the bag in the water a little longer, but do not squeeze it with a spoon.
How to finish brewing correctly
1. Take the sachet with a spoon or by the string.
2. Allow the liquid to drain naturally without squeezing the sachet.
3. Place it on a saucer or special stand.
