How to ripen avocados naturally in 24 hours: a simple life hack

ObozrevatelNews

It can take a long time for an avocado to become soft and ready to eat, but there is an easy way to speed up the ripening process naturally by using only several items.

It's important to know that cooking an unripe avocado will not ripen it, but will instead make the fruit rubbery and tasteless. Fortunately, there is an effective life hack that can help, OBOZ.UA writes.

An avocado will not ripen under the influence of excessive heat, as the outer layer of the fruit will simply boil, resulting in a mushy appearance, while the middle will remain unripe. However, you can ripen an avocado naturally by putting it in a bag with an apple or banana.

When the fruits are near each other, they will begin to produce a substance called ethylene gas, which promotes ripening by breaking down the starch in the fruit to make it softer and more flavorful.

Bananas and apples produce a lot of ethylene, and when stored in a closed container like a paper bag, they will start to "ripen" all the fruit nearby quickly.

How to ripen avocados naturally using paper bag

All you have to do is put the unripe avocados in a paper bag along with an apple or banana.

Fold the bag so that it is tightly closed so that no light gets inside. You can use a rubber band or paper clip to secure it.

Then place it in a dark place in the kitchen, such as a pantry, drawer, or cupboard. Keep the paper bag away from light and heat, as this will damage the avocado rather than ripen it.
