Cooking home-cooked meals takes a lot of time, which, as you know, is never enough. Therefore, housewives have to either use quick-fix recipes or go for some tricks.

Nutritionist Tetiana Lakusta recently shared her thoughts on the latter on Instagram. She gave some valuable tips on how to significantly reduce cooking time at home.

Marinating meat and poultry in advance

  • Reduces the cooking speed.
  • Allows you to freeze in the marinade, reducing the time for preparing within a month.
  • Allows you to extend the shelf life of fresh meat/poultry before freezing.
  • Facilitates digestion of meat/poultry.
  • Increased absorption of minerals in the gastrointestinal tract in the presence of acid from the marinade and increased bioavailability.

Preparation of several types of side dishes at the same time 2-3 days in advance

  • Baked potatoes (in an omelet, as a separate type of garnish).
  • Boil several types of cereals at the same time, place them in containers (buckwheat for lunch/barley for dinner).
  • Pasta (in an omelet, in cold pasta salads, as a separate type of garnish).

Use the preparations for soups/broths/borscht

  • Boil the broth, pack it in disposable cups/ziplocs. If necessary, add to the vegetable broth to get an additional protein element in the dish
  • Preparations - borscht dressing (boiled beans and chopped vegetables: onions, carrots, beets / vegetable set for vegetable soups: zucchini, onions, carrots, cauliflower, bell peppers, boiled chickpeas)
