How to re-use sprouted garlic cloves: a clever life hack
If you're tired of your garlic spoiling before you've had a chance to use it (for example, sprouting), you can put those sprouts to good use with one easy trick.
User @marfskitchengarden, a writer and gardening expert who often shares tips with her more than 425 thousand followers, shared this useful hack on TikTok.
If you have previously thrown away garlic that has green sprouts, you should reconsider this habit. According to the author of the video, it is better to take this sprouted vegetable and grow even more green garlic from it. This method is identical to how we sprout green onions on our windowsills in winter.
It is very easy to do - all you need is one head of garlic and a small bowl of water. You can peel the garlic cloves individually and place them root-side down in the bowl before covering with water, or just use the whole head.
Place the bowl of water on the windowsill and let the sunlight do its work. After a few weeks, you will have beautifully grown green garlic, with individual peeled cloves looking much larger and brighter than a whole head.
Green garlic can be used in any dish in the same way as cloves.
