Stollen is an incredibly delicious type of pastry that is served at Christmas in many countries around the world. It should look like a baby wrapped in a white blanket.

Food blogger Valentyna Kushch knows exactly how to make stollen without using yeast. On Instagram, she explained what ingredients are needed for this, as well as what exactly should be added to the dough to make the stolen bread as if it were a classic recipe.

Ingredients

  • Flour – 250 gr
  • Sugar – 100 gr
  • Cottage cheese – 150 gr
  • Butter – 100 gr
  • Egg – 1 pc
  • Nuts – 20 gr
  • Baking powder – 11 g
  • Dried fruits – 100 g
  • Salt
  • Butter and powdered sugar for dusting

The way of preparation

1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and add cold butter. Rub everything into crumbs.

2. Blend the cottage cheese with an egg and add to the flour mixture. Stir to combine. The dough should be quite plastic and not stick to your hands.

3. Grind the dried fruit, which was washed and soaked in alcohol or juice the day before, together with the nuts and add to the dough.

4. Knead the dough thoroughly and divide it into two parts.

5. Knead each part of the dough and roll it out.

6. At this stage, you can add the filling. Marzipan tastes perfect.

7. Wrap the dough inside like a baby.

8. Put it on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for an hour at 160 degrees.

9. Brush the still-warm stolen with melted butter and sprinkle generously with powdered sugar.

10. Such a stolen cake cannot be stored for a long time and will appeal to those who like soft but rich Christmas pastries
