How to descale faucets in 5 minutes with a simple kitchen tool

ObozrevatelNews

Limescale is a hard deposit formed by mineral deposits that remain after water evaporates. Over time, they crystallize and become difficult to remove.

Therefore, it is advisable to get rid of scale immediately, especially since it can also become a breeding ground for infection.

OBOZ.UA explains how to do this using a simple and affordable tool.

How does citric acid remove scale?

Citric acid is a substance found in citrus fruits of the same name. Thanks to its acidic properties, it does an excellent job of dissolving scale. At the same time, citric acid is mild enough not to damage the metal or plastic surfaces of faucets.

Important! Do not use citric acid to clean marble, stone, or wood.

As for limescale on faucets, fresh lemon juice can be used to remove it, but a more effective option is crystalline citric acid, which is sold in all supermarkets at an affordable price.

How to descale a faucet with citric acid

Boil a kettle and pour 500 ml of hot water into a suitable container. Add 2 tablespoons of citric acid and mix thoroughly until the crystals are completely dissolved.

To enhance the effect, you can add a few drops of dishwashing detergent to remove soap stains.

Next:

  • Put on gloves, pour the solution into a spray bottle, and apply it liberally to the taps.
  • Leave the solution on for 20 minutes to allow the citric acid to break down the limescale.
  • Remove the limescale with a sponge or an old toothbrush.

Then rinse the taps with warm water and wipe them dry with a clean cloth.
