How to cook uzvar for Christmas: recipe for a 5-liter jug

Uzvar is an extremely tasty and healthy drink that Ukrainian families usually serve at Christmas. It is made from dried fruits with the addition of various spices to taste.

A YouTube channel explains how to make the drink, which can be served at a festive table or simply drunk every day. They presented a recipe for 5 liters of the finished drink.

Ingredients

  • dried plums - 2 handfuls
  • dried apples - 2 handfuls
  • dried pears - 2 handfuls
  • sugar - to taste

Method of preparation

1. Put a saucepan with 5 liters of water on the stove and turn on the heat.

2. When the water is almost boiling, add the dried fruits that have been previously washed under running water.

3. As soon as it boils again, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1-2 minutes.

4. Add sugar to taste. The drink tastes best with 2-3 tablespoons of sugar per 5 liters of water.

5. Turn off the heat, cover and leave to infuse for 5-6 hours.

6. Strain, pour into a jug and serve.
