What makes broccoli tastier?

The secret to cooking broccoli is to bake it, not boil.

Baking caramelizes the natural sugar contained in it, which gives it a rich, buttery and slightly sweet taste. And the addition of three simple ingredients - garlic, lemon, and Parmesan cheese - significantly improves the flavor and texture of the vegetable.

Ingredients for cooking broccoli

  • 1.8 kg of fresh broccoli
  • 2 tbsp of lemon juice
  • 2 tsp of grated lemon zest
  • 4 cloves of garlic (peeled and chopped)
  • 50 g of Parmesan cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 5 tbsp of olive oil

Step-by-step recipe:

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. Wash the broccoli and dry it thoroughly so that it becomes crispy when baked.
  3. Divide into florets, leaving some stems, and remove the thick parts.
  4. Arrange the broccoli on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil, add garlic, salt and pepper.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the broccoli is browned and crispy. Turn the florets over halfway through the cooking process to ensure even cooking.
  7. Once cooked, sprinkle with lemon zest and grated Parmesan cheese, and drizzle with lemon juice.

Serve broccoli hot as a side dish or as a standalone one.
