Naturally, sooner or later, an approach to cleaning the house that received this "title" had to appear.
The trend originated on TikTok, where you can find all kinds of life hacks for home care. This approach has one significant drawback: it is effective for the visible side of the interior only. OBOZREVATEL took a closer look.
What is Hollywood cleaning?
The essence of "Hollywood cleaning" is to quickly give a neat look to those things and surfaces that are in plain sight. At the same time, you don't need to practice a major approach to cleaning corners and hidden parts of the room. Therefore, a house that is cleaned according to the Hollywood method can only look clean.
What's wrong with this method
Just as a Hollywood smile is often called insincere because its purpose is to make a fleeting impression, the essence of Hollywood cleaning is to create a presentable picture and nothing more. Adherents of the method clean up visible surfaces, vacuum and wash only the open part of the floor, take care of dishes, fold laundry, and take out the trash. At the same time, they may have a complete mess and even accumulate dirt under furniture, on top shelves, and inside storage systems.
Why Hollywood cleaning can be useful
Cleaning experts say that any cleaning in the house is already beneficial. Therefore, the Hollywood method can be used quite well. For example, it's great for keeping your home tidy daily.
If you do not want to turn your home into complete chaos with a presentable facade, it is better to practice a combined approach. You take care of your home quickly during the week and then do a deeper cleaning on weekends. Thus, a kitchen where you quickly go over the sink with a damp sponge and wipe the table after washing the dishes may well look clean for 7-10 days, and a shower where you don't wash off foam residues and lime stains with special products can last for 2 weeks.
How to develop the right approach
The right balance can only be calculated taking into account your lifestyle, the size and features of your home, as well as everyone who lives in it, including animals. But the Hollywood method has one advantage beyond any doubt: it is easier to do general cleaning later in a home where it is used daily.
That's why experts advise not to ignore this approach, even if you don't like its superficiality. A certain amount of daily cleaning won't overwhelm you after work and will reduce the amount of work you need to do on weekends. To optimize the process, you can make a list of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
