Complaints about explosions were reported in Smolensk

On the morning of November 17, loud explosions were heard in the Russian city of Smolensk near a local aircraft factory that manufactures missiles. Residents assumed that it was being "bombed again."

Russian authorities claimed an attack by "Ukrainian UAVs" that was allegedly repelled. However, Russians on the Internet suggested that it might have been a hit, as fire trucks rushed to the area of the "explosions."

According to eyewitnesses, there were three explosions in total, and they were so loud that some people felt their houses shake. Subsequently, they observed a bright flash over the aircraft plant.

Residents also noticed firefighters heading towards the area. Some residents of Smolensk panicked, assuming that they might have to evacuate the city if the "bombing" continued.

"On Avtozavodskaya, we could hear it very clearly; apparently, the aviation facility is being bombed again," "Pokrovka will be blocked again, apparently," "At least leave Avtozavodskaya," "We are learning to live in new life realities, comrades," Russians wrote.

Smolensk authorities stated that Russian air defense and electronic warfare "hit another Ukrainian aircraft-type drone in the skies over the regional center on the morning of November 17. They were allegedly shot down over the Zadniprovsky and Smolensk districts.

"Preliminarily, there are no casualties. Operational services are working at the scene," assured the head of the region Vasily Anyukhin.

The Russian Defense Ministry said there were three drones. However, they did not provide any information about the explosion near the aircraft factory.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, the aggressor country produces X-59 missiles at the aircraft plant in Smolensk, which it uses to target Ukraine. On October 1, UAVs flew near the plant - three of the four drones managed to damage the facility.
