Rooibos tea is recommended for drinking at night

A healthy metabolism relies on three fundamental principles: regular physical activity, a proper diet, and a balanced nutritional intake.

There is no magic solution for instantly speeding up metabolism, but nutritionists suggest considering rooibos tea. The benefits of this herbal tea were discussed in a Shefinds publication.

What is rooibos tea

Rooibos, also known as red tea, is cultivated in South Africa, where it has been traditionally used to combat insomnia and inflammation.

"Rooibos is an herbal tea made by fermenting its leaves, which gives it the characteristic red hue. The tea is packed with rich antioxidants found in its natural polyphenols," explained Josh Schlotman, a certified personal trainer and nutritionist.

Antioxidants play a crucial role in reducing inflammation by combating harmful free radicals. Schlotman highlighted that free radicals cause oxidative stress in the body, often leading to inflammation.

What are the benefits of rooibos

Rooibos can improve the digestive system and reduce inflammation in the body.

Nutritionist Sarah Chatfield stated that "rooibos is a great choice for evening consumption because it is caffeine-free and offers numerous health benefits." A healthy metabolism is closely tied to a healthy gut.

Chatfield pointed out that rooibos contains flavonoids and antioxidant plant chemicals known for their anti-inflammatory properties. She emphasized that "rooibos tea also helps regulate blood sugar levels."

With a sweet vanilla flavor, rooibos tea can be enjoyed with a squeeze of lemon or with milk.

Rooibos also contains magnesium, calcium, and iron, contributing to better sleep. If you struggle with insomnia, consider swapping your usual green or chamomile tea for a cup of rooibos.
