Dermatologists have identified three drinks that provoke the appearance of wrinkles
One of the main secrets of youthful skin is its moisture. Dry skin looks dull and wrinkles form quickly. Instead, moisturized skin remains supple and glowing for longer. That's why it's so important to drink to maintain healthy skin. But not every drink will be beneficial in this case.
Thus, dermatologists interviewed by She Finds named three drinks that not only do not saturate the body with moisture, but, on the contrary, lead to dehydration. Their abuse leads to rapid skin aging. These are the drinks. And tips on how to replace them.
Coffee
Coffee is often cherished for its invigorating properties; however, its caffeine content is deemed a primary contributor to premature aging. Caffeine acts as a diuretic, leading to increased water loss from the body when consumed excessively, hastening the development of wrinkles.
Dermatologists recommend that coffee enthusiasts limit their consumption to the morning and opt for decaffeinated green tea in the afternoon. Green tea, besides being a wonderful tonic, contains antioxidants and polyphenols that actively slow down the aging process of the skin. Additionally, green tea promotes digestion and slightly accelerates metabolism, making it an excellent choice for overall health.
Carbonated sugary drinks
In addition to caffeine, colas and other sugary sodas are laden with substantial amounts of sugar. Sugar, known for its dehydrating effects on the skin, can worsen acne and negatively impact metabolism, leading to weight gain.
For those who crave a sweet, carbonated beverage, nutritionists recommend considering homemade lemonades and kombucha as healthier alternatives. To achieve a delightful fizzy experience, fruits can be infused with carbonated mineral water. This way, you can enjoy the pleasant bubbles, and the natural juice in the lemonade becomes a source of essential vitamins and nutrients. Kombucha, also known as 'booch,' undergoes fermentation of sweet tea, producing natural acids, B and PP vitamins, and other nutrients. Besides being a rich source of beneficial bacteria for the intestines, kombucha can also undergo double fermentation with fruit juices, imparting an original and vibrant flavor.
Alcohol
Alcohol is often considered the most detrimental of the three drinks harmful to the skin. It rapidly depletes the body of water, leading to the loss of vital electrolytes. To counteract this effect, doctors advise those attending parties to drink water before heading out and continue hydrating after every glass, shot, or cocktail.
Dermatologists suggest substituting alcohol with coconut water. Not only does coconut water avoid the depletion of electrolytes, but it also enhances the body's potassium and magnesium levels, contributing to maintaining a healthy water balance. Additionally, coconut water boasts a high level of antioxidants, providing skin protection against premature aging.
