Cottage cheese stollen with candied fruit and nuts: the easiest Christmas pastry recipe
Stollen is a traditional German Christmas pastry made from rich, heavy yeast dough; in the classic recipe, it is a powdered sugar cake with a high content of spices, raisins, nuts and candied fruit. Its oval shape symbolizes the swaddled baby Christ.

Ingredients:
- Wheat flour - 250 g
- Sugar - 100 g
- Cottage cheese - 150 g
- Butter - 100 g
- Eggs - 1 pc.
- Nuts - 20 g
- Baking powder - 11 g
- Dried fruits - 100 g
- Salt
- Butter and powder
Method of preparation:
1. Dough: mix flour, baking powder, add cold butter, grind into crumbs. Beat the cottage cheese and eggs with a blender, then mix. Add the soaked and floured dried fruits and chopped nuts to the dough. Knead the dough well.
2. Knead each piece of dough well with your hands and place the filling in the center and closer to one edge. Wrap this edge inward and cover with a second layer of dough to prevent the filling from falling out.
3. Put on a baking sheet and bake for 1 hour at 160 C.
Brush the finished, still warm stollen with melted butter and sprinkle generously with powdered sugar!
