Let's be honest, when we're working in the kitchen, we don't always put the used products, items, and gadgets away. And while some of them won't cause any harm, others may simply deteriorate from being stored on countertops.

To know what to keep on your kitchen counter and what to put away, you should first consider your daily routine and pay special attention to what you really need to keep close at hand. And then study how safe such storage is for all these things. OBOZ.UA will tell you about the items that definitely do not belong on open surfaces.

Small household appliances

All these blenders, electric grills, slicers, coffee grinders, and waffle makers help us a lot in cooking, but you shouldn't keep them on the surface. If you don't use them every day, keeping them out in the open will cause them to become covered in typical kitchen dirt and dust, which can have a bad effect on their functionality. The most convenient way to store small kitchen appliances is in drawers. The same rule applies to cake stands and other serving items that you use infrequently.

Cookbooks

Usually, such publications are extremely beautifully designed -– they have bright illustrations and covers. It seems like a good idea to display such a treasure somewhere in plain sight. But, again, grease splashes, steam, and dust can cause damage to books. They also create unnecessary clutter. So, unless you have a nice glass-covered bookshelf in your kitchen, it's best to hide them away.

Cutting boards

Recently, it has become fashionable to leave cutting boards in full view. If you have a free nook to put them against your kitchen apron, then do so. If not, it's best to hide them. This will keep the boards clean for use and your kitchen looking neat.

What can be stored on the countertop

Here are the items that will be convenient to keep on an open surface. You will use them regularly, so there is no point in hiding them far away.

Pot with cooking tools – place a pot with spatulas, slotted spoons, stirring spoons, and other similar utensils near the hob and they will always be at hand. You can also put the pot in a beautiful planter to give it a more sophisticated look.

Salt, pepper, oil, and butter – these ingredients are constantly needed for cooking. Therefore, they can also be stored outdoors. But in this case, buy a special container with a lid for butter and put it in small portions so that it does not get too warm.

A basket for fruits and vegetables – many fruits do not need to be stored in the refrigerator, such as tomatoes, apples, or bananas. Put them all in a beautiful basket and it will turn into a spectacular decor.

Paper towels – you can't make interior decorations out of them, but they are constantly needed in the kitchen. Buy a special holder for paper towels so that you can use them conveniently.

Coffee maker – if you have splurged on such a machine, you probably use it more often than a blender or waffle maker. At least once a day. That's why you can keep it on the countertop. Place it near a power outlet and make sure you have easy access to important parts, such as the water tank. Place all the necessary products and accessories nearby.
