Ukrainian unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk was spotted near the walls of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, where the monks of the Moscow Patriarchate are due to leave the reserve on March 29. The boxer, who returned to Ukraine after the breakdown of negotiations on a fight with Tyson Fury, came to pray.

This was reported by the Vesti newspaper, whose correspondent took a photo of Usyk. The boxer himself refused to explain, noting that he "came to pray, not to comment". Earlier, he stated that he would "take the side of the monks" in the event of the so-called seizure of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. He also called the head of the UOC-MP, Onufriy, "the father of our Orthodox Church, of peaceful Orthodox Ukraine".

It should be noted that about 300 believers gathered in the Lavra on the morning of March 29. Some of them said they were not going to leave the reserve.

As reported, on March 10, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve announced the termination of the lease agreement with the monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. The diocese of the UOC-MP is against this decision of the Ministry of Culture. Metropolitan Klyment said that the ministry allegedly had no legal grounds for the eviction.

Since March 21, monks and believers of the UOC-MP have been banned from entering the caves of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. It is explained that a commission of the Ministry of Culture is assessing the preservation of cultural property there. On March 24, monks of the UOC-MP began to collect and actively take things from the territory of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, former world champion Vasyl Lomachenko published a post about "lawlessness in Ukraine", which delighted Russians. He also shared a video comparing Ukraine to Hitler's Germany.
