From Star to Occupant: What Leonardo DiCaprio's Russian lookalike looks like after three months in the war in Ukraine
Roman Burtsev, a Russian known for his strong resemblance to American actor Leonardo DiCaprio, has been on the front lines fighting against Ukraine for three months. He gained fame in 2016 by appearing on TV and in commercials, but his popularity quickly faded, so he decided to go earn blood money by killing Ukrainians.
Previously, tabloids wrote about the former programmer who lived in Moscow, comparing him to a Hollywood star. At the time, Roman was nicknamed "a fat Russian version of Leonardo DiCaprio," but now the aggressor country's military has changed, La Tercera reports.
At the height of his fame, Burtsev weighed 45 kilograms more than the Titanic star and was eight years younger. The Russian seized the opportunity and received many offers to hold photo shoots and attend business events. He was even offered to star in a special show. Burtsev was so enthusiastic about playing DiCaprio's lookalike that he quit his job as a programmer. However, he didn't have long to enjoy his popularity. His career was derailed in 2020, when the world was gripped by COVID.
Eventually, Burtsev got into debt, started overeating and gained a lot of weight. He worked part-time at the market and in a hardware store, but still didn't have enough money. To get out of the situation, the occupier took up arms and started killing Ukrainians. The Russian admitted to propagandists that he was not afraid to go into battle because he knew what to expect.
On the front line, the occupier has lost weight again and now looks a bit more like a Hollywood actor than he did during the family's financial crisis. In interviews with propagandists, Burtsev openly boasts that he will return home only on vacation or after the war is over.
