Pea soup is a very tasty and healthy first course for a hearty lunch. It is usually prepared in different ways: with chicken, smoked meat, ribs, meatballs, and mushrooms, adding different spices and favorite herbs.

Food blogger Ekaterina Shevetovskaya(shevetovskaya) on her Instagram page shared a recipe for pea soup with chicken. In the roast for the dish it is advised to add chopped tomatoes and turmeric - they give a special flavor and spice.

Pea soup recipe with chicken

Ingredients:

  • chicken
  • peas
  • potatoes
  • onions
  • carrots
  • tomatoes
  • salt, turmeric
  • bay leaf if desired

Method of preparation:

1. First you need to prepare the peas for cooking, namely rinse them well with cold water (about 5 times), then pour hot water and leave in this form for 3-4 hours.

2. When the peas are ready, you can move on to making the soup. Put the meat into a pot and pour water over it. Place on the fire and cook until tender. When ready, the chicken should be taken out of the broth and broken into fibers.

3. When you take out the chicken, add peas to the broth. Also, chop and add potatoes.

4. To make the roast, chop the onion and grate the carrot. First, fry the onion until soft, add turmeric and carrots. Stir to mix.

5. Dice tomatoes and add to the stew. Braise on low heat for 10 minutes.

6. Add the cooked roast to the soup and cook for 40-60 minutes. 15 minutes before cooking add meat and salt, and at the end - greens. Done!
