A new package of military assistance to Israel and Ukraine from the United States will exceed $2 billion. It will include funds for the defense of state borders from both the ultra-Islamist Hamas group and the regular Russian army.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said this on CBS. He noted that the adoption of such military aid packages largely depends on the decision of Congress.

"President Joe Biden is going to have intensive talks with the U.S. Congress next week," he said.

The American official noted that the adoption of laws in the US Congress remains blocked due to the crisis with the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives after the resignation of Kevin McCarthy. On October 3, 216 congressmen voted in favor of his dismissal, while 210 voted against. Among those in favor were his fellow party members: Andy Biggs, Ken Buck, Tim Burchett, Eli Crane, Matt Gaetz, Bob Goode, Nancy Mays and Matt Rosendale.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on October 7, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin said that his department would work to ensure that Israel, whose territory was massively attacked by Hamas militants, "had everything it needed to defend itself."

At the same time, Washington is not going to stop the transfer of weapons to Ukraine, which is necessary for its victory over Russia.

"We can and will support Israel as well as Ukraine. The United States can do several things at once," Austin emphasized.
