In the fall of 2024, the Republic of South Africa faced an unusually heavy snowfall that led to a real collapse on the roads. Some areas were covered with two-meter snow cover, and people got stuck in their cars due to blocked roads.

The situation in South Africa was reported by France24. At the same time, social networks were flooded with numerous images of an incredible phenomenon for the region.

It is noted that heavy snowfall hit the country on September 21. In some areas, up to two meters of precipitation fell, according to the Arrive Alive road safety campaign.

The key highway No. 3, connecting Johannesburg and the city of Durban on the east coast, was the most affected. Several sections of the road were blocked and detours were impassable.

Emergency services were trying to reach people in their vehicles. Rescuers said it was still unclear how many people might be injured and what their condition was.

At the same time, the media reports that not only locals are forced to deal with snow drifts. Tourists from other regions of Africa come here to see the miracle of nature - the snow in South Africa - with their own eyes.

Forecasters warned that even heavier snowfalls are expected in the country in the future. A second (highest) orange warning was issued for some areas.
