Trains stopped all over Norway due to a large-scale failure: details have emerged

In Norway, on Christmas Day, December 25, a malfunction of the communication system between trains and conductors caused a complete shutdown of railway traffic. The problems began at 7:55 am on Wednesday (local time).

The state railroad operator Bane Nor confirmed the incident. According to NRK, it was not possible to organize buses for all passengers who bought tickets.

Travelers were promised that in the absence of alternative transportation, they could call a taxi on a similar route, and Bane Nor would later reimburse the costs.

"The entire country is closed to train traffic. We should expect delays and cancelations of some flights. This is due to an error in the communication system," the press service said in a statement.

The company assured that all available teams were working to fix and eliminate the error.

"It's hard to say how long it will take, but we are working as fast as we can," said Bane Nor spokesman Øystein Stavdal Paulsen.

As of 11:00 a.m. (local time), the situation has not yet been resolved.

Some trains have resumed running (in relatively safe areas), but they are allowed to travel only at a low speed – a maximum of 40 kilometers per hour – so that the driver has a good view of the tracks.
