Shoigu proposed to Kim Jong-in to hold joint naval drills with China
Russia would like to hold joint naval exercises with North Korea and China. The corresponding proposal to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was made by Defense Minister of the aggressor country Sergei Shoigu.
Data on this received the intelligence Agency of South Korea, reports Reuters. It is known that the head of the Russian Defense Ministry visited North Korea on the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War, celebrated in North Korea as "Victory Day" in July. At the same time, he met with Kim Jong-un.
They visited a defense exhibition where North Korea's banned ballistic missiles were displayed.
It is stated that during his visit, Shoigu voiced to the North Korean leader a proposal for trilateral naval exercises. So far, there are no details on where and when they want to be held, as well as Kim Jong-un's reaction.
South Korea's National Intelligence Service told the National Assembly that Shoigu appeared to have held a private meeting with the North Korean leader.
Russian Federation and North Korea have recently called for closer military ties, but Pyongyang denies any "arms deals" with Moscow.
Last month, White House national security spokesman John Kirby said that Shoigu tried to negotiate contracts to supply the Russian Armed Forces with artillery ammunition during a visit to North Korea.
The United States recently imposed sanctions on three organizations involved in arms deals between Pyongyang and Moscow.
