Poland warned of the threat of Prigozhin's death
The head of the Polish government, Mateusz Morawiecki, was not overjoyed by the news of the death of the leader of the private military company Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, which occurred the day before. In his opinion, the army of Russian mercenaries will now be commanded directly by the Kremlin, and this does not bode well for neighbouring countries, including both Ukraine and Poland.
The politician's words were reported by the Polish news portal Onet. did not comment on the likelihood that Prigozhin's death was not preordained.
"But it is now clear that, under Putin's full control, the Wagner group will be used even more for provocations, blackmail, attacks and 'all kinds of moves to undermine security policy,'" the prime minister said.
Morawiecki added that Poland is capable of responding to any challenges posed by Prigozhin's death. However, from now on, the regular army and border guard services should step up security measures.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, according to Western media, Putin almost certainly ordered the military command, represented by the Ministry of Defence, to shoot down the plane in which Prigozhin was flying. In this way, he tried to restore his dominance and take revenge for the humiliation caused by the armed uprising of the Wagner mercenaries on 24 June.
After the crash of the business jet, the remnants of the Wagner mercenaries are rapidly leaving the territory of Belarus, where they have been living in a broken camp for the past few months. The mercenaries' convoys are moving towards Russia, but the Belarusian special services are trying to prevent the militants' vehicles from leaving.
