"Only feigning neutrality": the US says China has made its choice in the war in favor of Russia
China's so-called neutral stance toward Russian aggression in Ukraine is only a pretense. China is not neutral, it has made its choice in favor of Moscow.
This was stated by Julianne Smith, diplomat and US Permanent Representative to NATO. She emphasized that China's official statements contradict the facts of concrete support for the aggressor.
"China is doing its best to convince the world that it maintains a very neutral status concerning the Russian war in Ukraine. But in reality, China has chosen a side. With its thumb, it has tipped the scales in favor of Russia in its war in Ukraine and is providing the Russians with a long list of dual-use components that allow them to attack Ukrainian civilians and the military," the diplomat said.
According to her, neither the United States nor "all our friends, allies and partners around the world" were misled by China's statements. Therefore, both the United States and other partners "continue to call on China to withdraw its support for what Russia is doing in Ukraine."
According to the US official, the position of North Korea, which does not even hide its support for the Russian invaders, is of similar "concern" to the United States.
"Similarly, we are concerned about the fact that we see evidence of the DPRK providing Russia with missiles and ammunition – thousands of cargo containers filled with ammunition. For our part, we will continue to pursue businesses and anyone involved in the transit of such goods from the DPRK to the Russian Federation, and we will use all the forces and tools at our disposal to put an end to such transit," said Julianne Smith.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, North Korean soldiers have already been seen among the Russian occupiers. According to Julianne Smith, the United States and NATO have also "seen these reports." However, the American official says that this information needs to be confirmed, and "if true, it would be a serious increase in the direct support that the DPRK provides to Russia in its war of aggression against Ukraine."
Earlier, China promised to deepen strategic cooperation with the DPRK. The Chinese leader made this promise in a congratulatory telegram to the DPRK dictator on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
