Most citizens of Western European countries believe that Ukraine's international allies are not doing enough to help in the fight against Russia, both in terms of economic sanctions and military assistance. But at the same time, they are against increasing it.

This is evidenced by the results of a December YouGov poll, The Guardian reports. The survey covered France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, and the United Kingdom.

According to the results, about 66% of Danes, 63% of Swedes and Spaniards, 59% of Britons, 53% of Germans and Italians, and 52% of French people believe that the overall assistance to Ukraine is not enough to effectively counter Russia's aggression.

However, less than a quarter of respondents in each country are in favor of increasing support. For example, only 29% of Swedes, 21% of Britons and Germans, 14% of French, and 11% of Italians believe that their governments should provide more assistance to Ukraine. At the same time, the majority of respondents support maintaining or even reducing the level of aid.

When it comes to specific measures, such as toughening sanctions, supplying more weapons, or sending troops to support NATO in Eastern Europe, support for such initiatives remains stable or declines compared to previous polls.

Doubts remain about the future development of the situation in Ukraine. The majority of respondents do not believe that either side, Russia or Ukraine, will win the final victory in the next year. Instead, most believe that either the fighting will continue or a peaceful settlement will be reached.

In countries such as Denmark (47%), Germany (40%), the United Kingdom and France (38%), and Italy (36%), a peaceful resolution of the conflict is considered the most likely option. However, in Spain (36%) and Sweden (35%), more respondents expect the fighting to continue.

Earlier it was reported that, according to the results of opinion polls, support for the restoration of nuclear weapons in Ukraine has grown significantly over the past three decades. Currently, 73% of Ukrainians are in favor of nuclear weapons, 20% of citizens do not support them, and another 7% have not decided on the answer.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, according to the survey, Ukrainians demonstrated a fairly high level of confidence in the newly elected US President, Donald Trump. 44.6% of respondents in Ukraine expressed their support for Trump, which is significantly higher than in European countries.
