India has an "important global voice" and can use it to influence Russia

Negotiations with Russia are possible between the first and second global peace summits. But this cooperation is possible only if certain conditions are met.

This opinion was expressed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in an interview with the Indian TV channel New Delhi Television Limited. The diplomat noted that Kyiv is ready to launch a diplomatic process between summits to discuss Ukraine's proposal.

"At the first summit, we will bring together all the states that share these principles, and they will choose the menu item they want to work on. Then, between the first and second summits, communication with Russia may take place following the rules approved by the participants," he said.

Speaking about the "peace summit," the diplomat also noted that the Ukrainian "peace formula" is a "menu" that lists all the main problems caused by Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine.

"I deliberately use the word 'menu'. So that any country can choose the issue it wants to work on," Kuleba explained.

In addition, the diplomat noted that if New Delhi joins the peace talks, other countries in the Global South "will feel much safer and more comfortable."

Kuleba also emphasized that India has "an important global voice" and can use it to influence Russia. This will allow other countries to join Kyiv's peace initiative.

"India is a very important player in the world, and we need it to restore a just peace in Ukraine," Kuleba said.

According to the foreign minister, New Delhi can do a lot to unite the countries of the Global South.

Kuleba noted that if India joins the negotiations on the "peace formula" proposed by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, many other countries will "feel more comfortable sitting next to India and can join these efforts."

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukraine has a clear position that Russia should not participate in the first Global Peace Summit, which may take place in the spring of 2024 in Switzerland. States that want to achieve results at this meeting share the position of the Ukrainian side.

Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva said this, adding that Ukraine's position on this is known to everyone.

However, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mariia Zakharova said that Moscow would not participate in the first peace summit scheduled for Switzerland, even if it is invited.
