Israel launches an air strike on Tartus in Syria, where Russia's military base was located. Video
On the night of December 16, Israel launched an air strike on military facilities near the coastal city of Tartus in Syria. Ammunition depots exploded there.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, based in the United Kingdom, called them "the most powerful strikes" in the area in more than a decade. This was reported by The Times of Israel.
It should be noted that the 720th logistics center of the Russian Navy was located in the port of Tartus. Satellite photos published earlier prove that at least several Russian Navy ships have left the base in Tartus.
According to media reports, the Israeli military attacked several targets, including air defense units and surface-to-surface missile depots.
There has been no official confirmation of the operation by the Israeli Defense Forces or the country's authorities.
