Boris Johnson on Carlson's interview with Putin: it was right out of Hitler's playbook

During the two-hour interview, Putin dominated the conversation

Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson criticized Tucker Carlson for his "ludicrous interview" with Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin. He said that Carlson "betrayed his viewers" around the world.

Johnson said this in his column for the Daily Mail. "When Tucker Carlson came to the Kremlin, he had a well-known function. He was to become a stooge of the tyrant, the dictaphone to the dictator and a traitor to journalism [...] He betrayed his viewers and listeners around the world," he said.

According to Johnson, during the two-hour interview, Putin dominated the conversation, barely allowing Carlson to speak and throwing questionable historical claims at him to justify the war in Ukraine.

Carlson did not challenge Putin on the invasion of a neighboring state and did not raise questions about allegations of war crimes and attacks on civilians, Johnson noted in his article.

"He didn't ask the tough questions. He did not ask Putin why he is still using the most brutal means of modern warfare to maim and kill innocent Ukrainian citizens," the former British prime minister wrote.

Using British slang, Johnson called Carlson a "stooge of the tyrant."

He also said that Carlson behaved like a Putin supporter and "boneheadedly" accepted his "mixture of semi-masticated Wikipedia and outright falsehood."

At one point in the interview, Putin accused then-Prime Minister Johnson of derailing peace talks with Ukraine in 2022, saying he had convinced Ukraine that it was "better to fight Russia."

He described Johnson as a man with a "pure heart" but "not a great mind." In his article, Johnson wrote that Putin's interview with Carlson was straight out of Hitler's playbook.

He drew a comparison with an interview that Adolf Hitler gave to a sympathetic German-American journalist shortly after the invasion of France in 1940.

Johnson added that Putin's remarks about history and the alleged injustice against Russian-speaking people echo Hitler's stories about German-speaking people.

In addition, he compared Carlson's strategy to that of George Galloway, who praised Saddam Hussein in Baghdad. He urged Americans to ignore this interview and reminded Congress of the need to support Ukraine.

"For God's sake, remember who you are," he urged the congressmen who are preventing the vote to help Ukraine.
