U.S. President Joe Biden, who canceled his visit to Germany due to Hurricane Milton, intends to travel next week. It will be a "farewell" trip on the eve of the US presidential election and will be devoted to discussing further actions by Ukraine's Western allies and the war in the Middle East.

This was reported on October 13 by the German magazine Der Spiegel. According to the publication, preparations are currently underway for Biden's visit to Germany, which is scheduled to take place "in the coming days."

Planning for the trip to Berlin is already underway behind the scenes in the federal government and security agencies, the article says.

Biden is scheduled to have official meetings with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Friday.

"Biden's visit to Berlin is a kind of farewell visit by the president before the upcoming elections in early November," Der Spiegel writes.

While an official state visit with a banquet and other honorable events was originally planned, Biden's trip program has now been significantly reduced, the magazine writes.

However, as before, it is planned that Biden will be awarded the Order of the Grand Cross of the Special Degree for services to German-American friendship.

As a reminder, Biden had previously planned to come to Germany for a few days, but the visit was canceled at short notice due to Hurricane Milton, as the president wanted to be directly responsible for managing the crisis situation.

The now planned short visit is likely to focus on the same political topics, primarily further actions by Ukraine's Western allies and the war in the Middle East.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, the 25th Ramstein meeting between Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was supposed to take place in Germany on October 12, but was postponed due to the hurricane in Florida.

Biden announced the Ramstein meeting in late September. He said that the meeting would allow coordinating the efforts of more than 50 countries that support Ukraine in its defense against Russia.

According to The Washington Post, the 25th Ramstein meeting is expected to result in concrete steps for Ukraine's membership in NATO. The proposals of the partners may not satisfy Kyiv's urgent requests, and this will be an important signal for the Ukrainian authorities, the newspaper writes.
