Armenia is ready to sign peace agreement with Azerbaijan

Armenia is ready to recognise Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sign a peace agreement. According to the Armenian government, they are ready to leave Nagorno-Karabakh.

This was reported by the Russian media. The tasks of the Armenian armed forces include only ensuring the territorial integrity of the republic, while the army should ensure the security of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Armenia cannot decide the fate of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, their representatives should be the party to the negotiations," Pashinyan said.

On the basis of the agreements reached on mutual recognition of territorial integrity, Armenia expressed its readiness to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.

"Armenia is ready to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan on the basis of the agreements reached at the meetings in Brussels and Prague. These are agreements on mutual recognition of territorial integrity," Pashinyan said.

According to him, this is an agreement reached between Yerevan and Baku.

"And within the framework of this agreement, we are ready to sign the agreement," Pashinyan said.

As a reminder, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met in Brussels for talks aimed at resolving their long-standing conflict over control of Armenian-populated Nagorno-Karabakh. The meeting was mediated by the European Union.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to mutually recognise each other's territorial integrity. Yerevan is ready to unblock all transport and economic corridors.

Armenia has recognised Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said. At the same time, there is no agreement on the status of the Lachin corridor yet - Aliyev and Pashinyan started a dispute over its name right during the meeting.

The day before, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Russian peacekeepers would continue to be deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh until 2025. They will remain in the previously designated locations.
