The Russian occupation army will become stronger after the war

The army of the aggressor country may become even stronger than it is now after the war. Therefore, NATO must quickly prepare for this threat.

This opinion was expressed by the Commander of NATO's forces in Europe, Christopher Cavoli, in an interview with Der Spiegel. The general emphasized that despite the serious losses at the front, Russian troops would become a dangerous enemy for the Alliance.

"At the end of the war in Ukraine, no matter how it looks, the Russian army will be stronger than it is today," he said.

According to Cavoli, NATO should have no illusions about Russia's military strength, as they are learning, improving, and applying the experience of war.

"NATO has to prepare quickly for this threat, as the Russian Federation will be an adversary with serious military capabilities and "clear intentions." That is why we must be prepared and need armed forces that can withstand it," the general said.

The Supreme Allied Commander Europe added that the new defense plans and related additional requirements for individual NATO member states need to be implemented quickly. Cavoli also added that by "quickly" he meant that the military bloc should be more cautious than the Russians.

As a reminder, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said that NATO countries will need to discuss the conditions under which Ukraine will be invited to join the Alliance. He also emphasized that there are "very different opinions" in NATO regarding Ukraine's accession.

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the organization is working with Ukraine to bring it closer to membership in the North Atlantic Alliance. The victory of our country in the war unleashed by Russia is "vital for our common security," he said.
