A group of people who spied for Russia exposed in Britain: all details
A group of Russian spies who were collecting information for the Kremlin has been exposed in Britain. Six people have already been charged with suspicion.
This is reported by the British television and radio company BBC and Sky News. Tikhomir Ivanov, a 38-year-old Bulgarian citizen from Acton, west London, was arrested earlier this month and will appear in court on Wednesday.
He is accused of "conspiracy to gather information that may be directly or indirectly useful to the enemy."
Five other Bulgarian citizens - Orlin Rusev, Bizer Dzhambazov, Katrin Ivanova, Ivan Stoyanov and Vanya Gaberova - were arrested in February 2023. Their trial, which is expected to last four months, is scheduled to begin in October.
"A sixth suspect has been identified and arrested as a result of investigations following five previous arrests in this investigation and charges have now been laid in cooperation with the Crown Prosecution Service," said Dominic Murphy, head of the Met's counter-terrorism unit.
As a reminder, the Internal Security Agency of Poland has already detained 16 people in the country who are connected to the intelligence of the aggressor country Russia. The special services not only identified the spies but also found out the scheme they were using.
