Greece has supported and continues to support Ukraine. However, the information that appeared in the media about the alleged transfer of F-16 aircraft from the country to Ukraine is not true.

This was stated by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview with the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita. According to him, he pledged to continue supporting Ukraine as much as possible without jeopardizing Greece's ability to defend itself.

According to him, Greece is a country that not only respects but also defends the principles of the international order. It has always been on the right side of history.

"This is happening now when Ukraine is defending itself against the brutal Russian invasion," the Greek prime minister said.

Mitsotakis noted that Greece, despite its strong cultural and religious ties with Russia, "strongly opposes the Kremlin regime."

The head of the Greek government also reminded that the country had supplied "a significant number of 155-mm shells, which is especially important as Ukraine is currently facing a serious shortage of ammunition."

According to Mitsotakis, Athens is constantly considering the possibility of increasing military support for Ukraine.

Earlier, it was reported that the Greek government is considering the possibility of transferring about 32 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. However, this requires the approval of France.

It is worth noting that Ukraine needs the F-16 jets that it is about to receive in order to counter Russian Su-34 and Su-35, which are dropping missiles on Ukrainian positions and frontline settlements. At the moment, our country "can do too little to repel them," but F-16 jets may give it a chance.

As reported, Ukraine will receive F-16 fighter jets in the first half of this year. First, the planes will arrive from Denmark.

Meanwhile, it has become known that the first group of Ukrainian pilots has successfully completed intensive basic flight training on F-16 jets under the guidance of instructors from the British Royal Air Force. This program included basic flight, and technical and language training, which took place in the UK.
