US close to approving transfer of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine - WSJ
The Pentagon is ready to transfer the US ATACMS missiles that Ukraine needs for successful counter-offensive in the near future. In fact, the document is being signed by US President Joe Biden himself at the White House.
This was reported in The Wall Street Journal, citing its sources among European and American officials. The United States intends to make changes to the vector of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine while Russia is experiencing internal division and destabilisation.
"According to officials in the US and Europe, the White House, which had previously been sceptical, has concluded that it is necessary to support Ukraine in the conflict in the coming weeks," the authors of the article noted.
ATACMS is used in the operational and tactical complex and is capable of delivering very significant results. This is a ballistic missile with a range of up to 300 km that can be guided from HIMARS systems. It leaves the enemy no chance: it destroys their rear control points, command posts, ammunition depots, etc.
Earlier, OBOZREVATEL reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine noticed that our troops urgently need a supply of ATACMS ammunition to counter the S-300 missiles used by the enemy to shell Ukraine.
Former U.S. Army Europe Commander General Ben Hodges also noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' lack of access to ATACMS, which the United States refuses to provide, makes it difficult to achieve the liberation of territories as part of a counteroffensive.
"If Ukraine had ATACMS, the Black Sea Fleet (of the Russian Federation) would no longer exist. The Biden administration has not yet clearly defined the strategic outcome we want, and we have not clearly said that we want Ukraine to win," he stressed.
