The UN General Assembly adopted the resolution "Situation of human rights in the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol". 81 states supported the document, while 14 countries voted against the resolution, including Iran, China, North Korea and Belarus.

This was announced by Ukraine's Permanent Representative to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the adoption of the document and disclosed its content.

The Foreign Ministry noted that the resolution was the first UN document in which the General Assembly called the Russian aggression "Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine."

The following countries opposed the resolution: Belarus, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Eritrea, Iran, China, Cuba, Mali, Nicaragua, Niger, North Korea, Russia, Sudan, and Zimbabwe.

The UN resolution condemns the systematic violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms committed by the Russian authorities on the territory of the occupied Ukrainian peninsula.

"The adoption of the document shows that the international community unequivocally condemns the crimes of the Russian occupiers, and that every act of violence and human rights violation will be properly assessed and punished," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

Among the key provisions of the resolution is the condemnation of Russia's continued disregard for international human rights law and international humanitarian law.

The document condemns the unlawful detention of Ukrainian civilians, the use of torture and ill-treatment.

It is crucial that the resolution contains provisions condemning torture and other forms of ill-treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war, including sexual violence. The UN General Assembly called on the Russian Federation to provide access to international humanitarian mandates, including the ICRC, to places of detention of Ukrainian prisoners of war, to ensure proper medical care and the exchange of "all for all".

The resolution also aims to protect and return deported children. The General Assembly calls on Russia to cease the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and to provide comprehensive information to the relevant UN agencies and international organizations on all deported Ukrainian children, including those whose status has been changed, adopted or placed in the care of foster parents, and to take all necessary measures to ensure the safe return of these children to their homeland.

"We express our gratitude to the international community for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country. This clear attitude of the UN General Assembly and its member states is an important step towards restoring respect for international law and bringing Russia to justice for all its crimes," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets called the UN General Assembly resolution an important decision and expressed hope that this document "will be another step towards restoring justice and achieving peace in Ukraine."

"The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution calling on the Russian Federation to end its aggressive war and withdraw all its troops from our territory. Thank you for this decision! It is important for us to feel the support of the world," Lubinets wrote on social media.

The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, also welcomed the decision of the General Assembly. He emphasized that the resolution calls on Russia to end the war and withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

"I am grateful to the UN General Assembly and all member states for adopting the resolution on the violation of human rights in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine Russia is guilty of. This document calls on Russia to stop its aggressive war and withdraw all its armed forces from Ukrainian territory," emphasized Yermak.
