Trump's campaign switches to Harris, her nomination could change the course of the race - Reuters
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will try to show wavering voters that his likely new rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, is not fit to lead the country. He will switch his campaign to her new Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
This was reported by Reuters. Analysts say that Biden's sudden departure and Harris' support have turned the election race upside down just eight days after Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally.
The newspaper's sources said that his staff had been preparing for Harris's candidacy for several weeks in case Biden dropped out and she won her party's nomination.
"Harris will be easier to beat than Joe Biden," he told CNN shortly after the president's decision.
His campaign has also made it clear that it will tie its criticism as closely as possible to Biden's immigration policy, which Republicans believe is responsible for the sharp increase in the number of people illegally crossing the southern US border with Mexico.
The second line of attack against the new candidate will revolve around the American economy. Opinion polls consistently show that the country's population is dissatisfied with high food and fuel prices, as well as interest rates that make buying a home less affordable.
Make America Great Again Inc, a Trump-supporting company, said on Sunday that it had pulled anti-Biden television commercials that were to be shown in the battleground states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, and replaced them with ads attacking Harris.
Thus, the new 30-second ad accuses the vice president of hiding Biden's illness from the public and now tries to link the White House's reputation solely to her.
"Kamala knew Joe couldn't do the job, so she did it. Look at what she did: the border invasion, rampant inflation, the death of the American dream," the narrator says in the video.
Analysts reminded: Trump is known for using offensive language to attack his opponents. At a rally in Michigan, he gave his supporters a "taste of the insults" that he is likely to hurl at his rival in the coming days.
"I call her the laughing Kamala. Have you ever seen her laugh? She is crazy. You can tell a lot from laughter. She's crazy. She's crazy," the controversial American politician repeated.
Therefore, in the United States, they say that the Democratic Party still has to decide how to move forward. He also notes that there is no guarantee that Harris will become the party's candidate, despite Biden's support.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, earlier Reuters told about the "painful 48 hours" that pushed Biden to withdraw from the presidential race. It is noted that he planned to bypass his Republican rival Donald Trump and was building his election program in this direction, but suddenly changed his mind.
