Trump agrees to debate with Harris after scandalous claims
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has agreed to Fox News' offer to hold a debate with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. It is scheduled for September 4.
Trump announced this in a post on Truth Social late on Friday, Reuters reports. He noted that the format of the debate would be similar to the one he had with former President Joe Biden.
The debate will take place in Pennsylvania, at a venue to be determined. The event will be held in front of a full audience.
Earlier, Trump gave a vague answer to a question about the debate with his opponent. He insisted that the debate should be held on Fox News, which traditionally supports Republicans, and criticized ABC "for sympathizing with Democrats" after the first round of debates with Joe Biden.
Earlier, US presidential candidate Donald Trump had rejected a proposal to debate Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming that "he was leading in the polls."
Harris insisted on a debate that Trump was supposed to hold with the incumbent Joe Biden on September 10. However, the former White House chief of staff and his campaign refused to participate, saying that the Democrats must first officially nominate their candidate to replace Biden.
As reported, the latest opinion poll conducted by Ipsos for Reuters shows that Vice President Harris is supported by 43% of registered voters, and former President Trump - by 42%. However, despite the fact that the Democratic candidate outpolled the Republican candidate, she lost in voter support.
