"This will send a strong message to everyone in the region": Kirby hinted that the US is preparing new strikes on Iranian targets in Syria
The United States will send a "strong message" of deterrence to Iran, as it is concerned about the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East. To this end, the United States is ready to launch new strikes on Iranian targets in Syria.
This was stated on Monday, October 30, by White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby in a commentary to CNN. He noted that the United States will defend its military facilities, and Iran must absorb this "powerful signal."
"We will certainly act - if necessary - to continue to protect our troops and our facilities. We will strike and act. This is a strong message that Iran needs to understand," the official said.
John Kirby emphasized that the United States takes its national security interests in the region very seriously, which is why President Joe Biden has deployed two aircraft carrier strike groups.
"We need to make sure that we send a strong message to all participants, not just Iran, that we take our national security interests very seriously," Kirby said.
"We will protect and defend our troops. And we will do it at a time and in a manner of our choosing," the White House National Security Council coordinator added.
Earlier, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin said that in response to the escalation by Iran and its proxies in the region, the United States is deploying additional air defense systems and personnel throughout the Middle East.
As reported by OBOZ.UA:
On the morning of October 27, the United States conducted air strikes on two sites in eastern Syria that are associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This was in response to drone and missile attacks on American bases in the region.
Before that, an American base in Syria was attacked by drones. The U.S. military shot down two drones on approach, and the third reached its target and caused damage to the base. Three more UAVs struck the Conoco gas field in Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria.
In addition, the USS Carney destroyer destroyed several launched missiles off the coast of Yemen.
