Security services detain nine people in Poland who committed sabotage on behalf of Russian special services

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the country's security services had detained nine people who had committed sabotage. The head of government emphasized that the attackers acted on the orders of the special services of the aggressor country Russia.

In addition, he said that the investigation concerns, in particular, former Polish Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz, who held the post in 2015-2018. Tusk said this on TVN24.

According to him, the authorities are now seeking to fully regain control over what is happening on the territory of the Polish state. He noted that suspects who acted in favor of the Russian Federation have already been detained.

"We have nine suspects arrested and accused of direct participation in sabotage in Poland on behalf of Russian services. The loop of information we are collecting is tightening around Antoni Macierewicz," Tusk said.

He also emphasized that an investigation is underway into the influence of Russian agents or the Kremlin in general on what is happening in Poland, including at various levels of government and administration. According to his estimates, this will require a commission, the creation of which he has already announced.

As a reminder, Poland's Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk said that his country would carry out a significant modernization of fortifications. The defense ministry representative emphasized that Poland is ready to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on these measures.

Earlier it was reported that Poland had begun construction of fortifications on the border with Belarus. According to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, this decision was made due to pressure from the regime of dictator Alexander Lukashenko.
