No more boiled eggs and chicken: Ukrzaliznytsia now serves hot lunches from Yevhen Klopotenko

Full meals are now available on some trains operated by Ukrzaliznytsia. The company announced the start of the menu testing on its Facebook page. In addition, applications from catering companies will now be accepted to increase the number of routes with meals.

The test menu has been in action for two weeks in the following trains:

• No. 351/352 Kyiv-Chisinau
• No. 95/96 Kyiv-Rakhiv
• No. 29/30 Kyiv-Uzhhorod
• No. 4/3 Zaporizhzhia-Uzhhorod

The trial version of hot full meals was developed by the famous Ukrainian chef Yevhen Klopotenko. Thanks to an innovative approach to cooking and freezing, the dish retains its rich flavor and freshness even after reheating.

Passengers of these trains can order:

• Carpathian pancakes
• Omelet made from Zhytomyr eggs
• Chicken with Podillia potatoes and vegetables
• Crimean Tatar pilaf with beef

Two weeks of testing showed that the latter dish is the most popular among travelers. Ukrzaliznytsia invites its passengers to try dishes from the test menu and leave feedback in the company's app. This way, together with consumers, the permanent menu will be approved after the test period.

All hot lunch meals are packaged in vacuum packaging and microwaves are used for heating. The packaging also indicates the composition, which will help passengers take into account the nuances of their personal diet. Now, along with tea or coffee, you will receive a printed menu with photos and prices of meals. The cost of one item on the menu ranges from UAH 170 to 190 ($4-5)

The post on Facebook with the presentation of the lunches sparked a heated discussion in the comments. Passengers thanked the company and noted the convenience of this service, especially when traveling with children. Some people wrote, "Where is our Ukrainian borsch?" and "Omelet made from Zhytomyr eggs.. Are Zhytomyr eggs special?" Some expressed desire to include vegetarian dishes in the future.
