"Russia is destroying European civilization": Meloni said that Italy will help Odessa to restore the Transfiguration Cathedral

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has expressed sympathy with Ukrainians over Russia's night attack on Odessa on the night of July 23, which led to the destruction of architectural monuments, including the Transfiguration Cathedral, which is on the UNESCO list of heritage sites. The politician is convinced that Moscow is guided by barbaric methods, but they will never overpower the resources of civilization.

Meloni's words are transmitted by the Italian Embassy in Ukraine on Twitter. She indicated that Rome will take part in the restoration of the destroyed cathedral.

"They are destroying our European civilization, its sacred symbols. A free people will not allow themselves to be intimidated, barbarism will not win. Italy, with its unique in the world experience in the registration industry, is ready to join in the restoration of the cathedral and other treasures of Ukraine's cultural heritage," the head of the Italian government pointed out.

Meloni condemned the armed aggression of the occupiers, for whom there are no "red lines". They are destroying granaries, depriving food to millions of people who need it and destroying "our European civilization, its sacred symbols".

It should be noted that the Odessa diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate called the missile strike on the Transfiguration Cathedral a terrorist act. The clerics emphasized that the shrine had nothing to do with military facilities.
