Russia has launched a campaign to discredit Ukraine in the Middle East: the DIU reveals the Kremlin's plan

The aggressor country Russia has launched an active disinformation campaign against Ukraine in the Middle East. For this purpose, Moscow is intensively using its agent network, propaganda tools, and diplomatic missions.

This was reported by the press service of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine on its Telegram channel. The intelligence service noted that Russian diplomats have already received relevant instructions from the Kremlin.

According to the DIU, the objectives of Russia's next hybrid operation are:

- to justify Russia's war against Ukraine;

- discredit Ukraine and Western countries;

- impose unacceptable terms of negotiations;

- improve its position in the region;

- to reduce the economic and political pressure that Moscow has experienced because of the war and war crimes in Ukraine.

"Employees of the Russian embassy in Egypt received instructions from the Kremlin to hold a series of meetings under diplomatic cover to spread disinformation about the war and carry out recruitment activities," the DIU said.

The Russians also send propaganda materials to the embassies of other states located in Cairo, which justify the war against Ukraine.

"We are talking, in particular, about two papers titled: "On the role of the West in the conflict in Ukraine" and "On the situation around Ukraine". These materials present Putin's version of the history of Ukraine since the collapse of the Soviet Union, and present terrorist aggressive Russia as a victim," the statement said.

The key idea that Russia is trying to promote in the Middle East is that there is no alternative to Putin's scenario for ending the war.

This scenario includes depriving Ukraine of military assistance from the West, the cessation of hostilities by the Ukrainian army, Russia's retention of control over the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories, "eternal non-aligned status," "denazification" and "demilitarization."
