"Rostov is not rubber": memes about fugitive Assad flood the web

Memes exploded online over the alleged flight of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad to Russia after rebels overthrew his regime in Syria. Ukrainians are comparing Assad to other failed friends of Russian dictator Putin who also had to flee in disgrace – Viktor Yanukovych and Viktor Medvedchuk.

The network suggests that Putin will once again have to bury his Syrian friend in Rostov. Ten years ago, the fugitive Ukrainian president was also hiding in this city.

Journalist Yevhen Plinskyi ironically wrote "Welcome!", adding a photo of Assad with Yanukovych.

The network also recalled that ten years ago Assad said he would never leave Syria, as Yanukovych did when he fled Ukraine.

The users also created a collage with photos of Yanukovych, Assad, Putin, and Medvedchuk, and next to them, they wrote "Pull over" – the catchphrase of the traitor Yanukovych.

The following phrase was also used: "Pull over! Rostov is not a rubber city!"
