Polish Foreign Minister Sikorski does not rule out the possibility of NATO forces in Ukraine

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that the presence of NATO forces in Ukraine "is not unthinkable." That is why, he believes, we should not reject the idea of French President Emmanuel Macron regarding Western troops in our country.

Sikorski said this on March 8 at a conference in the Polish Sejm dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Poland's membership in NATO. He recalled that similar cases have already occurred in history.

"The presence of NATO forces in Ukraine is not unthinkable. I appreciate the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron because it says that Putin should be afraid of us, not the other way," the minister emphasized.

Sikorski recalled that during the Korean War of 1950-1953, a coalition of states went to the rescue under the decision of the UN Security Council.

Commenting on Macron's initiative, the politician noted that it "has a good intention". "Namely, that it is the Russian president who asks himself what our next step will be, and not that he is sure that we will not do anything creative, and therefore can plan his scenarios," the foreign minister said.

He added that by attacking Ukraine, Russia has shown itself to be civilizationally incapable of accepting Western values. This has defined it as a country that cannot coexist peacefully with its neighbors, so NATO had to return to its primary role. The West should implement a "creatively defined and asymmetrical escalation," Sikorski believes.

As reported, French President Emmanuel Macron is allegedly considering a scenario of sending troops to the territory of Ukraine if the Russian occupiers manage to break through the front towards Odesa or Kyiv. The president spoke about this with the leaders of the country's main political parties at a meeting organized on March 7.
