"No one deserves it more": the United States says it will nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize

Lilia RagutskaWorld

The United States has announced the nomination of President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. They say he deserves it more than anyone else in the world.

This statement was made by Republican Congressman Darrell Issa. He did not explain what exactly Trump's exceptional merits in establishing peace on the planet were, as his press service later did.

On Monday, March 3, Issa, who is a congressman from the state of California, announced that he was nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

"Today I am nominating Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. No one deserves it more," he wrote on his account on the X network.

Issa did not explain what exactly Trump's exceptional merits are. So social media users began to speculate on their own. Some agreed that in less than two months of his presidency, Trump had allegedly "stopped" two wars at once - in Ukraine and in the Middle East - but immediately received a huge number of indignant comments in response stating that this statement was false.

Meanwhile, Issa's spokesman Jonathan Wilcox explained that it was about Trump's "peacemaking efforts" in the Middle East, The Hill reports.

"Congressman Issa recently led a Codel [congressional delegation] to four Middle East countries - he saw firsthand and from several heads of state that the spirit of peace and a move away from conflict is real and multilateral," he said.

According to Wilcox, Trump seems to be leading the planet to peace "in a way that we haven't heard about in years."

"Since his election and since being sworn in, President Trump has inspired and advanced the cause of peace - and in a way we haven't heard about in years. His advocacy is a commitment to a world without war, and we are seeing that gaining attention in several regions of the world today - not just one," he emphasized.

The Hill emphasizes that Trump is indeed acting "in a way we haven't heard of in years," in particular, by making a dramatic turn in foreign policy, turning away from allies with whom the United States has cooperated for the past 80 years and actually siding with the aggressor state of Russia.

"This statement came as Trump reset US policy on the war in Ukraine, increasing pressure on Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy while thawing relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin," the article says.

The publication also recalled that Trump's desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize has long existed. He has been nominated for it many times, but to no avail. Therefore, The Hill notes, Trump's insistence on a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine at any cost may be partly explained by his desire to win the coveted prize.

Earlier it was reported that Trump had suspended military aid to Ukraine. The decision applies to all equipment for the Defense Forces, both that has not yet been shipped and that is in transit zones. The US President, as befits a true "peacemaker," has begun to weaken the country that is defending itself from an aggressive attack. The condition for the resumption of aid is "the readiness of the country's leader to reach a peaceful settlement."

At the same time, Trump and his entourage have not yet publicly voiced any demands to Russia to end the aggressive war in Ukraine that it has launched.
