Head of Bundestag's Defense Committee: Putin should be talked to only in the International Criminal Court

Markus Faber admits negotiations with Putin's successor

It is necessary to talk to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin about the war in Ukraine. But this should be done exclusively in the International Criminal Court.

This was stated by the new chairman of the Bundestag Defense Committee, a member of the liberal Free Democratic Party, Markus Faber, during a debate. He was quoted by Bild.

Faber responded to a statement by his opponent from the Left Party that any war always ends at the negotiating table.

"He is right, we should talk to Putin, but only in the International Criminal Court. I think that then we should negotiate peace in Europe with his successor," said the head of the Bundestag Defense Committee.

He also noted that not all wars end in negotiations, as there have been those that ended in the overthrow of a dictator.

"Not all wars end in negotiations. There have been wars that ended, for example, with the overthrow of a dictator. Over the weekend, I was at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the conspiracy against Hitler. I think many people in Russia are unhappy with Putin," Faber said.

The chairman of the Bundestag's defense committee also supported Chancellor Olaf Scholz's decision to deploy new American missiles in Germany. According to Faber, this will increase security in Europe.

"Because the dictator in the Kremlin chooses the weakest, and if we deter him more reliably, we will be more secure," said Markus Faber.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, Czech President Petr Pavel said that peace talks in Ukraine are impossible without Russia and China. At the same time, according to him, the negotiations will not make sense if Russia continues to put forward surrender conditions to Ukraine.
