Germany again suspects Russia of spying on the base where Ukrainian military are trained
Suspicious drones have again been spotted over the Schwezing military base in Germany. The German and Ukrainian military are honing their skills with the Patriot system there.
The German army's efforts to counter drone flights over the military facility were in vain, and Germany suspects that Russia is spying on the training process with the help of UAVs. Another incident was reported by the German newspapers Süddeutsche Zeitung and Spiegel.
It is noted that unknown drones were once again spotted over the air base in Schweising. At least six such incidents were recorded in January alone.
At the same time, the German military was unable to shoot them down or suppress them with special jamming devices. They also failed to locate the operators of these drones. It is assumed that the drones could have been launched from ships in the North or Baltic Seas.
At the same time, the Bundeswehr suspects that Russian special services are behind the launch of drones over the airbase, which is part of a special security zone, because not only German but also Ukrainian military personnel are trained to work with Patriot in Switzerland.
An investigation into possible espionage is currently underway.
"Observing the flights of unknown drones has now become a sad routine for the German armed forces. Since the troops began training Ukrainian soldiers, unmanned aerial vehicles have repeatedly appeared over the respective bases, and several times cars have been seen in front of the gates, which can be attributed to the Russian embassy in Berlin by their diplomatic license plates. "Sometimes it seems as if the enemy wants us to notice how they are trying to spy," a German army general recently said," Spiegel writes.
In late January, an explosion occurred at a Bosch facility in Germany, killing two people and injuring another.
According to the current police findings, the accident was caused by a leak of silane gas from a cylinder attached to an open air tank. Mixtures of this gas with air are extremely explosive. Warning systems were activated on the territory, and when employees wanted to find out the cause, the gas exploded.
