The war in Ukraine is "absolutely crucial" for Poland's security. Accordingly, Poland's position on this war is constant and unchanged - Ukraine must win.

This was stated by Polish President Andrzej Duda in his New Year's address to the country. He emphasized that he was addressing this issue because the security of Poland and Poles has always been a top priority for him.

"Since the very beginning of Russia's full–scale invasion of Ukraine, it is the ongoing war beyond our eastern border that is absolutely crucial to our security. Our position is constant and unchanging. This war cannot end in victory for Russia. It must end in a just peace that ensures that another, perhaps even greater, conflict does not break out in the future," Duda said.

Poland's security, he said, is based on two pillars. These are "a strong and modern army" and "the strength of our alliances".

"Because only a strong NATO, led by the United States, can guarantee the security of Poland and our entire region," Mr. Duda emphasized.

According to him, Poland is well aware that "there is no secure Europe without the commitment of the United States."

"That is why the first priority of the Polish Presidency of the European Union, which begins on 1 January, is to strengthen cooperation between the EU and the United States," he promised.

As you know, on January 1, Poland takes over the presidency of the European Union. Against the backdrop of the scandals of Hungary's last term, when some EU countries even demanded early termination due to the questionable behavior of Hungarian Prime Minister Orban, the transfer of power from Budapest to Warsaw can be considered a positive step for both the EU and Ukraine.

As previously reported, schools in Poland have introduced compulsory security lessons for students because of the Russian threat. In particular, Polish schoolchildren over the age of 14 will be taught to provide first aid and shoot.
