Can Harris beat Trump in the US election: poll results

President Biden dropped out of the 2024 race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in November. Donald Trump's advantage over Harris, according to opinion polls, averages 2 percent.

The Hill writes about this. Although Harris still has to win enough delegates to the party's national convention next month to be officially endorsed, she is now the clear heir apparent.

This will come as a relief to many Democrats who have been dismayed by the disappointing poll results for Biden in recent weeks.

Trump, who was officially nominated by the Republicans at the GOP convention last week, leads Harris by 2 points, according to a combination of national polls, from 47 percent support to 45 percent. That's about the same as Trump's 2.5-point lead over Biden, with 46 percent support to the incumbent's 43.5.

When independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is included, Trump boasts a 6 percentage point lead over Harris: 43 percent support to 37 percent, while Kennedy has only 6 percent.

Trump's lead over Harris averages 2 points, down markedly from 8 points at the beginning of the year, and other recent polls give her supporters reason to hope.

In an Economist/YouGov poll conducted in mid-July, roughly 8 in 10 Democrats said they would favor Harris as the nominee if Biden were to drop out, and just over a quarter said they thought she had a better chance of defeating Trump than Biden.

A CBS News poll released last week found that Harris fared better against Trump than Biden: Harris was 3 points behind, and Biden was 5 points behind.

At the same time, hypothetical Trump-Harris polls in individual states indicate a tough fight. Biden trailed Trump in several key battlegrounds before dropping out of the race, and the latest numbers point to a similar situation for Harris.

It's worth noting that US Vice President Kamala Harris has announced that she will run for the presidency from the Democratic Party. The current American leader supported her candidacy.

It is noteworthy that Kamala Harris has been condemning Russian aggression since 2014 when Russia occupied Ukrainian Crimea. She has also repeatedly stated that support for Ukraine is not charity and that the future of the Ukrainian state is a strategic interest of the United States.

In June, Harris led the American delegation to the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland. On the sidelines of the event, she assured that Washington would continue to defend democratic values and stand up to dictators.

She called the terms of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin's terms a "surrender demand" rather than a sincere attempt to end the war. Harris also promised that she and President Biden would continue to support Ukraine and raise the price for Russia.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Democrats could convince Biden to withdraw from the election, and he could make a decision this weekend.

The media also wrote that Democratic leaders in Congress privately warned Biden that he would not be able to win Trump's election and expressed fears that the party's chances of winning the House of Representatives would be destroyed.
