Zelenskyy held a meeting of the Staff: appointed a new commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy chaired a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff to discuss urgent issues of energy security and defense. Zelenskyy also made several important personnel decisions regarding the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the appointment of a new commander of the Land Forces.

The main topic of the meeting was the elimination of the consequences of Russian strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and the protection of critical infrastructure.

"I held a meeting of the Council. First of all, on energy. Elimination of the consequences of Russian strikes, protection of facilities," the statement said.

The President heard reports from responsible leaders and commanders on the state of restoration work in the regions.

In order to protect critical infrastructure, the president set a task to strengthen the air defense system and intensify negotiations with international partners to provide the necessary resources.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on the situation at the front, including the course of hostilities in the Kursk operation area.

In addition, important personnel decisions were made that should increase the combat capability of the Ukrainian army.

"Mykhailo Drapatyi has been appointed as the new Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleh Apostol has been appointed Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces," the President noted.

Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi is known for the successful organization of defense in the Kharkiv sector, where he thwarted an offensive operation by Russian forces. His experience and strategic thinking were the basis for this important decision.

Colonel Apostol, commander of the 95th separate air assault brigade, has extensive experience in combat operations, which makes him one of the key specialists in modern warfare.

"Both have proven their effectiveness in combat. The main task is to significantly increase the combat capability of our army, ensure the quality of training, and introduce innovative approaches to human resources management in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Ukrainian army needs internal changes to fully achieve the goals of our state," Zelenskyy emphasized.
